I don’t know about you, but by the time it gets to the weekend, eating out is high on the agenda (particularly brunch – the best meal of the day). With the cold finally setting in and the balmy summer evenings becoming a distant memory, I thought I’d share some of my favourite eateries to frequent at the weekend around Tooting, London.
1. Brickwood – this Aussie chain keeps popping up in different spots across South London, with it’s latest branch recently opening in Tooting Market. Whether it’s a long black or a flat white that you fancy, the coffee is strong and the brunch is even better. With avocado toast, dreamy poached eggs and sourdough toast.. it’s just a shame brunch can’t be a daily activity.
2. Imperial Durbar – throughout the day they serve great coffee, chai teas and a pretty good brunch. In the evening, it transforms into a cocktail bar serving up exotic twists on the usual cocktails. On Sunday’s they do a beer & curry for £12.50. All curries are prepared next door at the Cardamon Club, with decent size portions and a delicious menu to spice up the weekend!
3. Franco Manca – up there with my top pizza spots in London, Franco Manca provides fabulous pizza at ridiculously cheap prices . The menu is pretty simple, with daily vegetarian and meat specials to choose from. Make sure to ask for the garlic bread with cheese (not on the menu) as it is incredible! All made with tasty sourdough and fresh toppings. The most recent branch opened in Tooting market (near Tooting Broadway) and there are a few others scattered across South London so stop by ASAP – you won’t regret it.
4. The Wheatsheaf – just opposite Tooting Bec station, here you’ll find a classic gastropub. Relaxed atmosphere and a great beer garden with dogs being welcome, this is a guaranteed hit to have a drink or three. Serving up a mean Sunday Roast, it’s well worth making the trip for.
